Interchanging 613A diff head.

$

Hi, was wondering if anyone could tell me if there was another machine that runs the same non diff lock diff head as a 613A scraper?

One guy I talked to said maybe an 815 trash compactor?

I was thinking a 518 skidder, planetaries are the same but diff head is smaller.

I only really want the cast diff centre that the crown wheel bolts to as my one has had a repair done to where one of the carrier bearings sits which has now failed and I'm not keen on trying it again.

Cheers, Rob.

ive been running the new 37 for two weeks now, there seems to be a huge difference in the way its balanced, feels like i can turn around anywhere i want without nosediving, the seat is different too, its computerized no adjustment for a firm or softer ride, where the adjuster used to be there is a little box with two lights on it, they blink when the seat is empty. we also got a 10t, the pic of the dozer without a cab is the one i picked to run, no more scrapers for me for awhile.

Clark 290m photos and information

I have a bunch of photos and video of 290m's moving some serious material. 4 units pulling 2 bowls each with 600+ hp series 60 Detroits. The rest are pretty much stock and run so smooth. As soon as I can figure out how to post pics and vids I will get them on. These things are amazing, build like a battle ship. The worked 13 days straight across the road from my home and I only seen one down for cutting edges and some other miner stuff. I was a blast watching those double bowls run about 35mph loaded for about a mile and listing to the exhaust brake kick in when they made there turn and slowed down. I will post lots of picks soon.

Feel free to post pics of 290m's or Cat 830mb's, and any stories about them.

Scraper advise

I really know nothing about scrapers. I'm looking into the different kinds out there and need some advise on the limitations as far as ground conditions and terrain that I would be able to run them on. I would be using them on various well site locations in Eastern Ohio. for the past two years I have just been pushing the sites off with a bunch of dozers and I'm wondering if I could speed up production with these. I saw a few other contractors are using Cat 627's and a few with pull type, but I never really looked at the sites they were using them on. None of my salesman around here know much to help me out.

International 412 transmission help??

Hello to all, I'm new to the forum and hoping y'all can help me out.
I have an International 412 Scraper with the transmission with 4 forward and 1 reverse gear, but it is getting no clutch pressure and will not move in any gear. It operated perfectly in all gears up until, while turning ang backing up, the tractor tipped forward and did a nose dive to the dirt. It sat like this for about 5 minutes with the engine idling until I could use our dozer to push on the bowl to put it back upright. I have checked the transmission fluid and the level seemed to be higher up the stick than normal. What could be keeping it from getting clutch pressure? Could there be a valve that got stuck or maybe a vapor lock in one of the lines? If so where would it be and how would i go about fixing it? Any input is GREATLY appreciated! Thanks in advance, Matthew Barnes.

Open Bowl VS elevating scraper for 9inch topsoil removal on 100acres

$

Hi,

We are currently completing a job and the contracting company have asked us to take 9inches of topsoil off the entire 100-150 acre property as they are redeveloping it. We have been looking around and can hire either an open bowl or 623H elevating scraper (both self propelled, single engines I believe) and are unsure which one would be best. Any opinion would help!!!

Its for a farming property and they've requested it be about 9inches off the top. Because it will have cows on it not houses it doesn't need to be perfect but it does need to be quick and efficient as we are paying by the hour for hire. Also, it is only black/sand topsoil not clay but it has rained like twice here in the past 6months and the ground is extremely dry (our garden has turned to sand due to water restrictions). We were leaning towards the elevating scraper but are a little concerned the ground will be too hard for a cut. we don't want to use a dozer if we don't have to.

any tips on a scraper or how to go about the project in general would be really helpful.

thanks!
Aussie Chick

Scrapers in Non Western Countries

$

Why don't non western Countries use scrapers? Countries like china/brazil/India with huge infrastructure projects don't seem to use them much, even developed countries like japan and south Korea don't seem to use them.

I don't have much experience with scrapers but they seem like a very expensive niche market machinery. Even in there niche market I think excavators and haul trucks would come pretty close to their efficiency. With their huge upfront costs and expensive maintenance and parts requirements they only seem feasible in select areas with excellent parts and service support and huge pockets.
