This Scraper ran fine a few months ago, but it has been parked for a few months. Thought we had a battery problem, replaced all batteries and still not able to get it in gear.

Cross Slope Loading Capacity Reduction

My company recently landed a large project in the FL area that will include quite a bit of pull pan and artic truck work. I was only recenlty assigned to the project and through some initial conversations may have discovered an issue with our plan of attack. The plan as I understand it will be to load the pull pans by running them accross the slope, which is a 2.5:1, to remove the material. The pull pans are a mixed fleet of Cat and Deere pans averageing about 18CY in size. The estimate calls out that we plan on getting 12CY (compacted) a cycle per pan. So call it 24CY per cycle for each unit.

My fear is that we missed the fact that because we are loading on a cross slope and the material is sandy that we may have the following issues:
1.: Wont be able to load the bowl very well due to the sandy soil. (More Cycles/Reduced Capacity)
2.: That the actual capacity will be greatly reduced even from the struck capacity because of the cross slope. (More Cycles/Reduced Capacity)
3.: We will have a quantity over run if we try to cut benches into the slope to load level due to the width of the scrapers and the slope required to be cut at each bench level.
(Quantity Bust)
4.: The scrapers wont be able to stand up on the cross slope or the scraper units will tend to drag down the hill. (Production Bust)

Either way I am curious to know what he scraper guys here have to say. I personally have not spent a ton of time in the seat of a pull pan which are big in FL. I have only run 621's and 31's and since I graduated college I have been able to spend much time in the seat in much of anything. But I hope that I can get some thoughts from the group here on what I may be facing here on this new project.

Thanks

Pond: ag tractor & pan or dozer?

Doin a pond for a buddy of mine but he's about an hour n a half away. We've got a deere 750 c dozer & deere 9510R tractor w/ 18 yd pan. Obviously I can move more quicker with the pan since its good clay & no rock to speak of but the big issue is moving. Long way to drive a tractor & pan which makes me lean more towards the dozer. The pond will be basically a hole in the ground. There's a lil bit of a valley but not much. What's your alls opinion?

Cat 70 and a D6N

I'm looking for opinions if a 6N matched up to a 70 round bottom would work. I know the 70 was designed for the old D7's, say a D7 17A at 123hp and 26000lbs weight, so I'm looking for thoughts on a D6N at 160 hp and 40000ish lbs. I know a D6R would be preferable, but I have a line on a reasonably priced N.

Decisions and costs. Ag tractor/pan vs elevation scraper for large pond job

I am still trying to gather equipment for my personal pond work. I recently purchased a solid 2wd Ag tractor (Case) with 122HP verified at the PTO so probably 113 to the ground. The question is what size pan could it reasonable run and does it make financial sense vs a scraper? We were originally looking at a 623 or 633 for this work as the haul distance is about 1000ft and the bigger payload wins on paper by a LOT.

The issue is the cost and hassles of yet another machine vs an already proved out machine with an AC but no power shift (leg workout 101).

I also have our D7 and it will certainly be doing a lot of work here but how much and how productive, I am not yet sure. I need to strip some top soil and have some closer sites that are only 300ft from the ponds so I was planning to try and push them rather than scrape. D7 only has the S blade though.

Excavation is roughly 18K yds compacted. I think I had about 150yrs figured for 10K yds with a 613.... Knock that down to like 50 with a 633. Just cannot find a 633 priced right enough to do it.

I was checking to see if anyone has some experience on drilling holes in cutting edges. I am looking at cutting them with a Mag. drill , holes are 13/16" in 1" and 1 1/8" thick new edges.
I have tryed with cobalt and it does absolutely nothing other than removing the paint. I am probably wrong - but - i thought cobalt was the toughest to use??? Thanks for any information

WABCO Parts Identification

Hello,

Looking for some help on WABCO parts identification. Does anyone know of an application by part number book for WABCO? I have a number of what I believe to be WABCO scraper parts. For example; a motor assembly FA8239, rotor TV1602, stator FA7177, stator VB6164. These are all new parts and I would like to find someone to sell them to but I cannot find an application for them. I have looked through all of my parts books but I am missing information on the 353FT so it is possible they were used on the elevator of that machine. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I do have a number of other parts to identify so an application by part number book is something I would really like to find. My email is mccallajmc@gmail.com and phone is (260) 609-3106 I am in Hicksville Ohio USA Thanks again.

I have a 6n semi u. Have a duck marsh and dam to build. The marsh has to be level, with a haul of 500 to 1000ft. It's sandy soil. The marsh is about 1/2 mi long. The dam is going to be a pain. Site is boggy and can't cut any dirt next to dam will have to come off hill 500 to 700 ft. This is a one time need of a scraper or pan. Which one and how big. Don't know yardage on dam yet. 500 ft and 15 tall est. Would like something under $12,000 or a lot less!!!??

Stockpiling and seperating material at a big landfill. Never had it so easy, no compaction tests, no stakes or grades, just haul dirt, what a blast! Getting black adobe clay material where ever it is, yesterday on top of a hill, for future use lining a cell, red clay material goes in a different pile. Only bad thing is I'm running thru the dump area so need to be cautious of the dumpers.
